Our office will be closed from midday on Friday 22 December 2023 until 8am on Monday 8 January 2024. If you need to get in touch with us during this time, please refer to the below guidance:
Urgent matters
If you find yourself without power over the holiday period, please follow the usual process of reporting this to your electricity retailer in the first instance. Our field crews will be working throughout, so we’ll still be able to attend to any network power outages. The same applies to any streetlight outages – but you'll need to report these to your local council.
If it’s an emergency (for example, if you have any safety concerns or spot any damage to our equipment), please call our 24 hour electricity emergency line on 0800 248 148, which will remain open all day, every day.
Connections
Connection requests can be raised as normal via your electricity retailer, although we'll need to have received the request by Wednesday 6 December to be able to process it this year. Any new network extension or augmentation requests will be carried out next year.
If a temporary disconnection for safety is required, please request this via your electricity retailer and we’ll still be available to undertake it.
Anything else
We'll be able to respond to any emails sent to [email protected] until Tuesday 19 December, following which we'll get back to you in the new year. Remember, you can still contact us 24/7 on 0800 248 148 for safety-related matters or anything else that's urgent.
If you have a complaint, please let us know in order to access our free complaints process. If we cannot resolve your complaint, you can contact Utilities Disputes on 0800 22 33 40 or go to www.udl.co.nz. Utilities Disputes is a free and independent service for resolving complaints about utilities providers.
Other services
You can continue to request and obtain free underground cable plans (reference maps) via beforeUdig. However, if there are critical cables in the vicinity, we won't be able to provide plans until we've reviewed your request, which might not be until the new year (subject to timeframes and volumes).
