Update: 10:45am
This morning a fault at one of our major substations caused roughly 5000 customers in Wellington's northern suburbs to lose power. Suburbs affected included Paremata, Papakowhai, Camborne, Whitby, Titahi Bay, Pauatahanui, Plimmerton, Porirua City Centre and Aotea.
We've been able to restore power to affected customers by redirecting supply from other parts of the network. Our teams are currently out in the field investigating the cause of the fault.
We acknowledge the inconvenience of being without power on such a cold morning, and appreciate your patience as we work to safely fix this fault as quickly as possible.
Please remember to:
Let your electricity retailer know if you experience a power cut and it's not shown on our outages page.
Phone our emergency line on 0800 248 148 if you spot anything you think might be an electrical hazard.

Call 111 if anyone's in danger or if there’s a fire or serious risk to property.
