Help shape the future of Wellington's electricity network

Wellington’s electricity network is entering a period of significant change. More homes, businesses and transport are likely to rely on electricity in the years ahead. At the same time, our network is ageing, and some of the equipment that has served the region well for decades will increasingly need to be replaced.

Now, we need to make careful choices about how to build for the future, balancing affordability, safety and reliability while managing the disruption that delivering the work can create for our communities.

To support the additional investment we intend to apply to the Commerce Commission for a Customised Price-Quality Path (CPP). Our proposal will be independently reviewed and assessed before the Commission decides the price and service-quality settings that will apply to Wellington Electricity.

Before that decision is made, you have an opportunity now to provide feedback and tell us what matters most to you.

We’ve developed a draft plan that we think strikes the right balance and helps keep the region safe and powered for the future. 1. Higher bills now, or later?

Our plan to look after Wellington’s electricity network would increase a typical household power bill by around $12–14 a month.

We think it's a good balance between replacing old equipment, keeping bills affordable, and keeping power cuts to a minimum.

But there are other ways we could do it.
