MetService has issued a heavy rain watch for the Wellington region. 

After last week’s once-in-a-decade storm, we’re mindful that some areas of our network have been placed under stress, and heavy rain so soon after may result in more minor faults than we’d usually expect.

If you notice any flickering lights, surges, or low power, please call your retailer so we can send our crews to investigate.

Our first priority will be attending any faults which present a safety concern, followed by faults which cause a power outage.

As usual, if your power goes out please call your electricity retailer so we can get you reconnected as soon as possible.

Let your electricity retailer know if you experience a power cut and it's not shown on our outages page.

Phone our emergency line on 0800 248 148 if you spot anything you think might be an electrical hazard.

Treat all electrical equipment as live at all times.

Follow your emergency response plan if you're medically dependent, and contact your health practitioner if an outage puts you at risk of harm.

Call 111 if anyone's in danger or if there’s a fire or serious risk to property.
