As night has fallen we’ve had to stand down some of our crews due to safety constraints and fatigue management. We have reduced teams continuing to work into the night, however due to the number of faults and the current adverse conditions some power outages won't be able to be restored until tomorrow. 

Due to the current severe weather, if your street isn't part of wider outage shown on our website's outage map, your power is unlikely to be restored by tomorrow. Our crews will continue restoration work as soon as conditions allow. Thank you for your patience and understanding. 

  • The storm event in Wellington has caused a high volume of faults to be reported by our customers.
  • We’ve restored power to a number of areas but as the wild weather continues we could see more and even repeat outages occur as more trees and debris are blown by high winds into our power lines.
  • Our first priority is to attend any faults which present a safety concern, with our next priority being to restore power to the largest affected areas.
  • We'll then work on fixing smaller faults and restoring power to any individual properties that might still be without power.
  • For faults impacting the overhead lines on our network, crews will need to wait for the weather to calm before they can safely complete repairs, so please bear with us.

Please remember to:

Let your electricity retailer know if you experience a power cut and it's not shown on our outages page.

Phone our emergency line on 0800 248 148 if you spot anything you think might be an electrical hazard.

Treat all electrical equipment as live at all times.

Follow your emergency response plan if you're medically dependent, and contact your health practitioner if an outage puts you at risk of harm.

Call 111 if anyone's in danger or if there’s a fire or serious risk to property.
