Following an extensive procurement process Wellington Electricity has selected Omexom New Zealand as its new field service provider, contracted to perform maintenance and fault response services commencing 1 January 2025. This appointment marks a transition from our incumbent field service provider, Northpower Limited, which has held the contract since 2010.
The objective of this procurement was to ensure Wellington Electricity continues to provide value for money for its customers, along with the safe and efficient delivery of services throughout the Wellington region. Omexom’s proposal showed a demonstrable ability to meet these criteria, and we’re excited at what their appointment will bring to the table.
Our immediate priority is to continue to keep people safe, aware, and informed, as we work with both Northpower and Omexom to facilitate a transition which ensures minimal disruption to employees and customers, while maintaining continuity of a high level of service across our network.
There is plenty of work to be done on our network, and Omexom has expressed a desire to retain current Northpower staffing, equipment, and institutional knowledge. We’re committed to working with both parties to ensure Northpower’s people are supported during this transition and are provided with opportunities to continue to work on the Wellington Electricity network.
We’d like to thank Northpower for the excellent support they’ve provided as our field service provider over the last 14 years, along with the contribution they’ve made to our network and community.
We’re looking forward to embarking on this new partnership with Omexom, working collaboratively to continue to provide high quality delivery of electricity throughout the Wellington region.
