As a lifeline utility, Wellington Electricity will maintain essential operations while the New Zealand Government requires adherence to COVID-19 response at Alert Level 3. We wanted to update you on steps we are taking.
Following the COVID-19 lockdown period deferments to Level 3, we must now continue with essential planned maintenance to ensure that we maintain a reliable electricity supply. In some but not all cases, completing work may require power to be turned off so that our field crews are kept safe while undertaking it. We appreciate that this will cause inconvenience to your stay-at-home routine as we all try to stay safe in our bubbles, but this is required. Premises affected by these outages will be notified.
We are committed to ensuring the safety of both members of the public and our field crews. They will be following best work practice guidelines under Level 3, and we would ask customers to respect safe distances and wear face coverings if approaching our teams.
If you have any queries relating to planned outages, please contact your electricity retailer in the first instance.
