New Zealand's power system operator, Transpower, has advised of a potential shortage of electricity on the National Grid between 7.30am and 8.30am on Friday 10 May.
To manage this, we might need to send an electronic signal that switches off the electricity supply to some hot water cylinders in our region.
It could also mean managed power cuts, but we can work together to avoid this. We’re asking people to try and be mindful of their electricity use between 7am and 9am on Friday. You might be able to help by:

⚠️ If you rely on power for medical reasons, please make sure you have an emergency response plan in place. Contact your health practitioner if an outage puts you at risk of harm, or call 111 in an emergency.
